3/6/17-We have had several cases of influenza A and B as well as strep. In order to help with decreasing the spread of infection, please do not send your child to school with a fever or temperature > 100 degrees.
This is a difficult time of year for most students who have asthma or allergies. We do want your child at school, but here are some things that can help in the morning if they complain of a sore throat with no fever:
- Take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for pain
- gargle with salt water
- bring cough drops with a note for me
- bring a water bottle
- be sure that I have a current Asthma Action Plan and inhaler for your child if they have Asthma.

Garden News: If you are interested in helping with the garden and becoming part of our "garden crew" please contact me. We need help with planting, maintaining and eating our vegetables.
Head lice information can be found on the NASN website for school nurses and is very helpful: https://www.nasn.org/portals/0/resources/HFLL_101_parents_2015.pdf
Physicals -must be current for 7th graders and any student wishing to stay for after school activities. Current implies that I have a 4th grade physical on file for any 6th grader who wants to stay after school. 7th and 8th graders must have a physical from 7th grade. If your child plays any sport they MUST have a new physical each year. Asthma Action Plans -(if necessary) If your child takes an inhaler at school, a current AAP must be completed by his/her physician. If you child has a Peanut or life threatening allergy requiring Benadryl or an Epi Pen, please have their physician complete an allergy action plan and send this to me asap with needed medication.
Medication information: Over the counter medication may be brought to school by the student and given to the school nurse. It may be administered by the school nurse as long as written parent permission is obtained and kept in the health room.
All prescription medication (including daily medication) MUST be brought to school by a parent and given to school personnel. Again, written permission is obtained and kept in the health room.
Please know that I am here to assist you and your physician with your child's health needs. If your child is seriously ill or injured, or if he/she has a planned surgery please notify me as soon as possible so I can work with our counselors to arrange assistance.
